Hi, Gracie. ? This photo memory feels a million years and a million miles away.....because today was the first day of non-freelance work I've done in SEVEN YEARS. ?
Seven years, guys. Seven. Years.
I honestly had to calculate that on my fingers because it's all just so surreal and disorienting, the way time stretches taffy-thin while you're so busy devouring it.
After so long, something as simple as setting an alarm for the morning had my nerves jangling. And I nervously laid out my clothes the night before like it was my first day of school. (Red boatneck, black skinnies, heartwarming bangles from my dear @pamelasusanjewelry, and legit orthopedic shoes that are actually completely adorable. Thanks, @vionicshoes!)
I could write a novel about the meandering path of my work & soul history. Actually, fingers crossed, someday I might. But for now I'll just say:
Giving up a little bit of freedom in exchange for sinking my roots deeper into this community feels really good and really right. I was welcomed with hugs (so many hugs) and words of encouragement (so many words of encouragement). And I quickly remembered how great it feels to be a part of a team.
It should also be noted that I COULD NOT BE DOING THIS if it weren't for the incredible doctor I found after so many years of searching. She changed my life, and she did it by LISTENING to me.
Friends, if your doctor doesn't listen to you, you've gotta keep searching. And I know it sucks, especially when you don't feel well, but nothing matters more than your health. And lazy diagnoses coupled with lazy prescriptions are a death sentence. If you need an ear or a shoulder or some friendly advice, I'm always always here. xo.
