Yesterday I received the kindest and most thoughtful surprise in the mail from the wonderful souls at @justvanness. The Lamy Joy in its special edition white color. This particular version and color was one of my most treasured sketch pens. I had gifted the one I had to a very talented young illustrator and was on the look out for a replacement. Lisa Vanness was the first person I contacted in search of this pen and at the time she was out of stock and they were very hard to come by. Also I had switched out the calligraphy nib that this pen comes with for a regular medium in the black steel finish on my previous pen. Well lo and behold what shows up in my mailbox yesterday than this Lamy Joy in white with the nib switched out for a black steel in medium along with a note that read, “Our condolences, we thought you might like this more than flowers.” Is that not the most heartfelt and kind gesture? This is why I love small, independent and family businesses. They know you’re name, they actually care and they walk alongside in this journey of life. Thank you from my heart to Lisa and the team at @justvanness for reaching into what has been the hardest time and lifting my heart with such thoughtfulness and love. It just doesn’t get much better than that.
