A reflection as we close out the year and head into the new. I’m leaving some things behind to make room for a new thing. What about you?

I thought it was good duty
to wear every cloak
I’d been handed
with thanksgiving
not realizing
some were lousy.
The more I wore,
the more worn
I whittled away.

Winter came-
I felt numb
in every cloak
of Lousy.
I made a wish
in a tear drop;
a star shone
from the north.

It thundered,
I gave you choice!
I gave you voice!
I howled,
I hate this cloak!
No more lousy!
And took it off.

The star twinkled.
I smiled.
And skipped Home
where love awaited
and let me choose
a new cloak.
I picked Beauty.
