Russian artist Zhenya Machneva creates hand-woven tapestries, depicting obsolete and decaying machinery.
Machneva first starting focusing on this subject matter in 2012 after she visited the phone factory Krasnaya Zarya in St. Petersburg, where her grandfather worked for forty years. The factory had gone out of business that same year; nowadays, the once-major enterprise leases its premises for office space.
See more of Machneva's work in our #2018Triennial, #SongsForSabotage.
