Between 1968 and 1974, @judy.chicago carried out her series of "Atmospheres" performance works in which she set off smoke bombs and pyrotechnics in various Californian landscapes to create dramatic, ephemeral land art.

Using smoke machines, fireworks, and road flares, Chicago's performances were staged for audiences or solely for the camera, documented in film and striking photographs. These dynamic works activated the landscape through an expressive use of color, similar to her earlier Minimalist sculptures and formal painting, expanding her feminist politics to include a commitment to the natural world.

On Thursday, December 14 at 6:30 PM, join artists @torkwasedyson and Joan Jonas to discuss their work in relation to feminism and the environment in a conversation moderated by @candicebhopkins.
