You lookin’ at me? This is Turk, a 3.5-year-old Eurasian lynx at the @Columbus_Zoo and Aquarium. His animal care team notes that he is very laid back and a fantastic ambassador for his species. Eurasian lynx have a wide range with stable populations throughout Europe and in parts of Asia. The major threats that these beautiful felines face include human-wildlife conflict, habitat fragmentation and loss, and poaching for their pelts. These cats are built for the snow with their large paws, which act like built-in snowshoes. Males can weigh up to 85 pounds and they’re quite impressive hunters-- they’ve even been known to take down reindeer!
