C’est Catherine Louise Adam la mère d’Alexandre Lenoir, fondateur du musée des Monuments français à la fin du XVIIIe siécle. Joseph Siffred Duplessis, célèbre pour son ‘Portrait officiel du roi de France et de Navarre, Louis XVI, en habit de sacre’ a peint ce portrait de Madame Lenoir au XVIIIe siècle, vers 1764. Regardez la manière dont les couleurs de son livre correspondent à celles de sa tenue et comment l’artiste a su rendre son air plein de douceur.

Painted by Joseph Siffred Duplessis, perhaps better known for his portrait of the King of France and Navarre, Louis XVI, she engages with the viewer and is dressed elegantly. The book she is holding even matches the colours of her outfit as well as her complexion.
