Ever heard of a 'fishing cat'? About twice the size of a domestic cat, they have stocky, muscular bodies and short legs. They are found throughout Asia from Eastern Pakistan through to India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, and also in Bangladesh and parts of Sumatra, Java and Nepal.

These small, striking cats are famous for their abilities in and around the water as adept and eager swimmers.

Unfortunately, their habitats are decreasing and over-fishing by humans means there’s less food available. Also, because fishing cats share hunting grounds with fishermen, they can be seen as a threat to catch numbers and will often become a target.
