The Queen has visited the Museum many times during her reign. Scroll through our gallery to see images of Her Majesty on previous visits, including when she originally opened the Sir Joseph Hotung Gallery of China and South Asia 25 years ago.

Her 1957 visit marked the 200th anniversary of the presentation of the Old Royal Library to the new British Museum by King George II in 1757. The Queen also viewed the iconic funerary mask of Tutankhamun at the ‘Treasures of Tutankhamun’ exhibition in 1972.
