Swipe to see a scene from a Japanese silk scroll! Painted by Tani Bunchō in the late 18th century, its decorative style tells the narrative of ‘The Peach Blossom Spring’ over five metres. The story goes that a fisherman travels up a stream with flowering peach trees, and at the stream’s source finds a cave that leads to a hidden valley. The people who live in the valley enjoy plentiful harvests and perpetual health, remaining blissfully unaware of the troubles of the everyday world.
