This model of a Hindu chariot was constructed in the late 18th century out of wood, metal and textiles. The intricately carved base shows deities, and images of priests and musicians stand on the raised platform where the image of a deity would be placed on the red cushion. Although this is a model, it still stands over 2 metres tall. Full-sized versions of this chariot are pulled through the streets in south Indian festivals.
