The Museum has a little-known but expansive collection of 20th-century badges. Within this there are around 400 LGBTQ campaign badges – here is a small selection from the 1970s onwards. Some contain established symbols of LGBTQ movements like the pink triangle and the Rainbow Flag. The pink triangle is a symbol that has been inverted and reclaimed by campaigning organisations since the 1970s. Pink triangles were used in concentration camps to mark out the estimated 100,000 ‘homosexual’ men arrested by the Nazi regime.
