The Yackez dance duo is adding new faces. And the youngest is 66. “Give It to You Stage,” a 2-act song-and-dance extravaganza, opens at @nylivearts on Wednesday. Yackez’s largest-scale production to date, it compiles old and new numbers into a semiautobiographical musical, addressing topics ranging from couples’ therapy and date night to the grind of getting by as artists in NYC. Yackez is made up of a married couple, Larissa and Jon Velez-Jackson. This time, their troupe includes 11 women from Larissa’s parallel life as a fitness instructor, a career that predates the founding of Yackez. The photographer @sashafoto captured Bonnie Yarry, one of the aerobics students, embracing the #Yackez aesthetic, in which hip-hop, physical comedy, tango, wrestling, rap, drag performance, improvisation and aerobics collide to produce a purposeful kind of chaos.
