I trekked with the team of rangers for several hours along the Mara River looking for poachers and their hidden camps. We bumped into several elephants and buffalo but no poachers. We did however come across the skull of an elephant that had been killed a few month previously with a poisoned arrow. The Rangers patrol for poachers who target animals for bushmeat and elephants for ivory. Snaring and poison tipped arrows are the poacher’s weapons of choice as they are silent and lethal ways to kill animals.
