The Alexia Professional Grant encouraged me to spend time on the stories that rarely make it to the mainstream headlines. It also made me see the importance of giving a voice to those who so often go unrecognized rather just reporting the daily "events.” This week I shared my work on the @alexiafoundation account. In 2000, I was awarded a Professional #AlexiaGrant to document the lives of the people of Guinea Bissau. The Alexia Foundation will begin accepting applications for its 2017 Professional and Student Grants on Jan. 2, 2017.
