Pass the oyster plate! In the late 1800s, oysters were very trendy, served in parlors, saloons, bars, and restaurants. Porcelain factories capitalized on this by designing special plates for serving the cool delicacy. This one was made by Union Porcelain Works, in Greenpoint, New York, around 1881. You’d also need a silver-plated fork, of course.
