I have dedicated a life trying to understand images capable of simultaneously play for and against the viewer’s desires and expectations. Every image is in part what you want it to be, be it a form in the shape of a cloud, a self portrait or an MRI result. Ultimately, if photography can’t describe the world, but only a particular version of it, their interpretation can be as subjective as their making. Reality is the process of putting these things together.
It was a pleasure sharing a plurality of visions filtered by my native culture with such a polite and enthusiastic public. I’ll be busy piecing the rewards of this experience for the next few days, but for now, thank you, @ニューヨーク近代美術館 for this unique opportunity and goodbye to all of you.
