Ann Temkin, Chief Curator of Painting and Sculpture: “As part of the preparations for ‘Picasso Sculpture,’ MoMA’s ‘She-Goat’ was brought in from the Sculpture Garden for a spa treatment in our conservation lab. First she was scrubbed down with a bristle brush and soapy water. Then our conservators used cotton rags and pressurized air to dry her off. Finally she was given a thin layer of protective wax before being brought to the 4th floor galleries for installation.
