Know what makes a project meeting more fun? Cherry-flavored ice cubes!
These icy delights may not be a big deal today. But back in 1927, General Electric actually printed recipes for fancy ice concoctions. Refrigerators were new and home cooks were offered instructions on freezing methods, crafting chilly desserts, and making aspic jelly.
These were served at our #ObjectProject meeting and were inspired by the exhibit, which will include a section on the cultural changes that followed the arrival of the fridge in American homes.
The images here come from a 1927 General Electric cookbook, which includes the following introduction: "To many people electric refrigeration is still such a novelty that they scarcely realize the range of its possibilities. It is almost like having an Aladdin's lamp and not knowing the right way to rub it." "Object Project" opens this summer. Oh and happy birthday to ‪#‎ObjectProject team member Nanci!
