In 1898, New York photographer Gertrude Käsebier saw Buffalo Bill's Wild West troupe parade to Madison Square Garden. She wrote to William "Buffalo Bill" Cody, requesting permission to make studio portraits of the Sioux Indians traveling with the show. She photographed many American Indian men, women, and children, formally and informally.
This portrait is of Amos Little.
Käsebier died on today's date in 1934.
