先日ジャカルタで行われたアジア大陸予選に伊藤ふたば選手 @伊藤ふたば のリードコーチとして、応援に行ってきました。

アジア大陸予選の優勝者は2024年のオリンピック参加権を得ることが出来る重要な選考大会。伊藤選手は3位という結果で大会を終えました。決勝の大トリを飾った彼女まで誰が優勝するのか分からない接戦でした。

自分がコンペに出ている時によく感じた胃袋が締め付けられる感覚は、コーチとして観戦していても感じる。各ラウンドが終われば、しばらくルートを見上げる自分は、今も昔も変わらない。
大会が終わって、彼女は目に涙を浮かべながら、僕に銅メダルをかけてくれました。僕たちが求めていた結果ではなかったけど、これまでの無数の進化がたっぷり詰まった、大切なメダルです。

オリンピック選考は今大会では決まらず、来年に持ち越されます。引き続き応援のほど、よろしくお願いします。

I recently went to support Futaba Ito at the Asian Climbing Qualifier in Jakarta as her lead coach.

The winner of this comp will qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games. Ito finished the competition in third place. It was a close competition where no one knew who would win until Ito, the last climber of the final.

The tightening sensation in my stomach that I often felt when I was competing in competitions is something I also feel as a spectator as a coach. Once each round was over, I would look up at the route for a while, and I am still the same person I used to be.
After the competition was over, with tears in her eyes, placed the bronze medal on me. It wasn’t the result we were looking for, but it was an important medal, filled with the countless evolutions we have made so far.

The Olympic selection will not be decided at this competition, but will be carried over to next year. I would like to ask for your continued support.
