D.J. and Ayu are Sumatran and Bornean orangutans that were just 11-months-old when I photographed them @taman_safari. Orangutans are the world’s largest arboreal mammals, making their homes in the tropical rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra in southeast Asia. Baby orangutans like these will spend the first six to eight months of life clinging to their mom. While they don’t stay with mom forever, infants will stay with their mother for seven or eight years, learning all of the skills they will need to survive on their own.
