You know this was Andy Warhol’s apt in the city where he used to pay $150 a month. Then in 2016 it was sold to close to $10 million dollars. What I found out was that the building now is a deep gray color with black trims. The fire door entrance looks new compared to the original design but overall, even with the exterior preserved, it’s different. I miss the red colored brick that is a staple of fire houses. I’m sure it’s beautiful inside …but the exterior is missing the old world charm of a late 1800 to early 1900’s carriage buildings. I’m biased and a fan of old buildings so anything new, tall, and sparkly is not my thing. One of the many reasons why I love this city…the buildings that is filled with history, gossip 😉and always curious about who lived in x building way back when there were no towering glass skyscrapers. . 📍159 E 87th - if you google this address, you’ll see a bunch of pictures and fun facts too.
