They are placed along residential streets for their shade, resistance to insects, disease and they can withstand pretty much anything! . The tree was found 70 million years ago and what’s uncommon is that they are both female and male. The female tree drops her fruit when matured and the smell…oh my…it’s similar to expired dairy (just to be nice). But you get it. Due to the smell and complaints from residence, the city is mindful to plant male trees along the streets of Manhattan. . Displays of ginkgo trees are to be found in many parks and the @nybotanicalgarden quickly cleans up the fallen fruit so visitors don’t smell them. At @wspconservancy has many ginkgo trees and is located on the east side of the park. And of course @centralparknyc …the golden colors of the gingko tree is bursting everywhere…a photographers dream! .
