Having a tight living space is a very common problem for people who live in big cities as the developers wish to utilize the limited land for as many people as possible. Space utilization and keeping the functional area can be an exciting and practical design project. Create zones within a space by considering how you arrange your furniture. Using rugs, mirrors, and different lighting in set areas can help to establish zoned spaces as well. Utilizing a console or a removable partition can be considered. Creating zones in small square feet may have the opposite desired effect as it looks very clattered. Think about the scale of furniture you use in the space and use multifunctional furniture (as we discussed last week). If you’re short of space, use a softer palette and remove anything that creates a partition, so your space visually flows and feels more open and airier. Go vertical: Wall-mounted items can utilize the space efficiently. Drop-down desks, and wall-mounted shelves that can be folded away when not in use.
