In the event of searching the furniture to create the package and searching furniture for our clients on recent decorating projects, we run into some difficulties. The inventory of furniture is extremely thin not only in Hawaii but also even in the mainland. It is difficult to secure furniture as we need to get approval from the clients which takes some time for the final decision. By the time we get a confirmation from the clients, the items that had stocks were gone and we had to go through the same process more than a few times. Some of the furniture are overstocked and the other does not hold good stocks. It is volatile. Meanwhile, we thought about importing good quality furniture from China, knowing that the warehouses in China stock well due to China’s Corona policy and they cannot sell much in the domestic market, but the US trade policy against China discourages us to import directly from China. According to trade experts, the price of goods could go up to 350% tax on top of 100% goods themselves. Some may say to tie up with one furniture company to provide the package. Every company has strong points and of course weak points in the design. For me as a designer, it may be complex, but it makes it more interesting to create the best designs by using several firms. Thinking of customers who wish to furnish their beautiful dream homes in Hawaii, we need to take some risks to conduct business.
