“十二方位神”

日本の生活に「十二支」は昔から深く根付いています。
年を数えるだけでなく、時間や方角を表す記号としても使われていました。
この作品は大きく羽根を広げた孔雀に十二支の文字を書いています。
全ての方位に守ってくださる存在がいて、今日の豊かな自然や私たちの生活が花開いていることを表現しています。
また孔雀の身体には「心」の文字を書いており、全ての中心には「心」があることを表しています。

The "Japanese Zodiac" have been deeply rooted in Japanese life for a long time.
They were used not only to count the years, but also as symbols for time and direction.
In this work, the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac are written on a peacock with its wings spread wide.
This work expresses that there are beings protecting us in all directions, and that today's abundant nature and our lives are flourishing.
The kanji for “心”(heart) is also written on the body of the peacock, representing that "heart" is at the center of everything.
