"祀り踊る祭"

日本の夏の風物詩である盆踊り。
平安時代から先祖の供養のために踊られたとされています。
お盆の夜という特別な時間に楽しそうなことをやっていたら、妖怪が参加していないわけがありません。
この作品はお祭りで妖怪ガシャドクロが踊っている様子を表現しています。
ガシャドクロの骨には「和上同慶」（ワジョウドウケイ）と書いています。
これは「わっしょい」の語源といわれており、神様がいらしたことを伝える言葉です。
神を祀る神社での祭りに特別な意味を感じるような作品になっています。

Bon Odori is a summer tradition in Japan.
It has been danced since the Heian period (794-1185) as a memorial service for ancestors.
There is no reason why Japanese monsters would not join in if they were having fun during the special night of Bon Festival.
This work represents a Japanese monster Gashadokuro dancing at a festival.
On the bones of the Gashadokuro is written "Wajo Dokei" (和上同慶).
This is said to be the origin of the word "wasshoi," which means "God's presence.
The work is designed to give a sense of the special meaning of a festival at a shrine that enshrines a deity.
