Week 49: Sometimes I talk about the topic of connecting dots to make a plane. I often experience what I thought as dot was originally a plane before that. A dot has a size. In many cases i find it already a collection of smaller dots as I hear more deeply, think more thoroughly.

When I pinch it with care, I can see more dots disconnected. I thought we talked about the same thing, but it turned out to be different. Then we talk and think about the area in between. In most of the cases, we can find the dot we imagined!

Dot is eventually a plane before connected to others. I need to get closer to check it as one plane that I can't divide. I need to pinch over until the dot covers full screen of my smartphone. Then I can go back with a strong conviction. I'm not done yet digging when I can just recognize it as a dot.

点と点をつないで面でとらえる話になることがあるが、その前に点だと思っていたことが、実は面だということがよくある。点にも大きさがあるのだ。点というと、ごく小さなひとつの単位のように思うのだが、よくよく話を聞いてみて、よくよく考えてみると、実はより小さな点のあいまいな集合体であることが多い。

丁寧に拡大すると、バラバラな点がいくつも見えてくる。やはり、同じ１つの点を指しているようで、実は違った。いくつか見えるそのより小さな点と点の間についても聞いたり考えたりして掘り下げると、だいたいそこにも想像していた通りの点があるではないか。

点は行き着くところ、面だった。ただ自分が近づけていないだけだ。ひたすらピンチして、限界を超えて拡大してみると、スマホの画面もその点で覆い尽くされる。そこまで行くとようやく引き返せる。点にしか見えないうちは、まだまだ掘り下げが足りないのだろう。
