The doctor went over my entire life medical history before starting the physical tests 😅 Afterwards the doctor confirmed and officially diagnosed me with hEDS, and the good new is that by getting this diagnosis, I’ll have access to specific doctors within the clinic that specialize and/or understand my condition. 🙏 For those of you that don’t know, I was born with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. It is an inherited connective tissue disorder that is caused by defects in a protein called collagen, and bc collagen is all over your body, it pains me in many different ways 🥲🏥 My doctor in Korea and then my EDS Specialist in Japan have already confirmed my hEDS, BUT there has been a recent update made by the EDS society stating that, “Many people who were previously assigned a diagnosis of EDS-III, EDS-HT, or JHS will meet the criteria for hEDS; some will instead be classed as having Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD). The new criteria for hEDS are stricter now, intended for a more consistent and targeted identification, in the hopes of aiding a greater understanding of the cause(s) and course (natural history) of the disorder. “ So I was a bit worried but turns out, yup, still have hEDS 🥴📖 After that stress was over, I went off on a #buildaladder walk through the city and stopped to grab a nice warm milk tea and later on a comfort snack in K-Town.
