Finally checked off my bucket list by visiting this renowned bookstore. Did it meet my expectations? Well, let’s just say it had its ups and downs.

I had heard so many great things about this place, and it’s often featured on lists of the world’s most beautiful bookstores. While it certainly lived up to its visual appeal, the overall experience fell a bit short.

The entrance fee alone was 5€, and the place was packed with a large crowd. It made it quite challenging to get close to the books and navigating the stunning staircase felt like being in a glorious traffic jam. The serene and calming atmosphere I usually enjoy in bookstores was lacking here.

However, that doesn’t take away from the store’s undeniable beauty. It truly is a gorgeous place, especially the top floor dedicated to Nobel Prize winners in Literature and other deserving authors. It was a unique experience to physically connect with some of my all-time favorite stories, like Ulysses, In Search of Lost Time, 1Q84, and the poems of Wordsworth.

So, while it wasn’t my favorite part of Porto as I had anticipated, it was still a nice place to explore and cross off my list.
