If you’re not familiar with Caparica, it’s a lovely beach town on the other side of the river, close to Lisbon, and a great area to spend your weekends. And days off. And days on. Fuck, it’s a great place to be all day long. Caparica doesn’t have as many small businesses, restaurants, and cafes as Lisbon, and so I was chuffed to be invited to come to the opening of a wine bar in the area. And it’s a great spot. They serve delicious wines, including a really funky orange wine - which has very much been my thing this year - along with a lovely Chablis, which I used to drink a lot in Japan and haven’t had much of since. On top of that, they make AMAZING Syrniki, which are these small, pan fried cheese cakes, made out of something that’s like Cottage Cheese, usually served for breakfast. I just discovered them within the last year, and maaaaan they’re so good! These here, though, are so different, because I’ve never had them so smooth on the inside. I’ve usually had them with lumpy, textured insides, and that’s fine, but here, they somehow got it to be as smooth and silky as American Cheesecakes, with a touch of cinnamon in them as well. AH!
