“Kuruwabunshō Yoshidaya”
 
Izaemon, the young master of Osaka’s biggest merchant Fujiya, is deeply in love with the finest courtesan Yūgiri and spent a fortune of his father’s money on her. And he was disowned for that.
Izaemon, dressed in shabby outfit visits his familiar pleasure house, Yoshidaya. The owner of Yoshidaya is concerned about him and invites him inside to see Yūgiri.
Meanwhile, Yūgiri has been sick because she missed Izaemon so much. She is feeling better on that day and is entertaining another custumer. Izaemon gets upset when he learns about it and sulks in a kotatsu (or a table with built-in heater and a blanket on top). When Yūgiri finally enters his room, Izaemon pouts and swears at her. They begin to quarrel, but eventually make up.
Then, a box of gold coins is delivered from Fujiya, Izaemon’s family, announcing that they have finally approved of Yugiri and Izaemon. The room of Yoshidaya is filled with joy.
 
What a lovable silly story! lol
 
In the latest éclat magazine, I express the play “Yoshidaya”, one of the most popular Kabuki plays from the Osaka-Kyoto area, and also the one I recited last month as a lead vocalist, Kiyomoto Eijudayū.

『廓文章 吉田屋』
 
大坂きっての豪商・藤屋の若旦那である伊左衛門は、最上位の遊女・夕霧にゾッコンのあまり店の金を使い込み勘当されてしまう。
みすぼらしい姿の伊左衛門がなじみのお店の吉田屋を訪ねると、心配した主人が招き入れてくれ、夕霧に会わせてくれることに。
一方、夕霧は伊左衛門と会えない寂しさから病に臥せっていたが、この日は体調が良く別のお客の座敷に出ていた。それを知ると不機嫌になり、こたつでふて寝する伊左衛門。夕霧がやってきても、やっと会えたのに伊左衛門が悪態をつくせいで、口ゲンカが始まってしまうが、結局は仲直り♡
すると、伊左衛門の実家の藤屋から千両箱が届き、伊左衛門と夕霧の仲を許してくれるという知らせが舞い込んできた！吉田屋の座敷は喜びに沸くのであった。
 
・・・なんて愛すべきバカバカしいお話なのでしょう！笑
 
今回のエクラでは、上方歌舞伎の代表作であり先月わたしが清元栄寿太夫としてタテ唄を勤めさせていただいた『吉田屋』を表現しました。
