When Instagram introduced community guidelines aimed at stopping “sexual solicitation” in December, sex workers were the first to raise the alarm.
They were concerned that the new rules would end up censoring the accounts that many use to grow their fanbases – an especially pressing concern at a time when their incomes were already affected by the pandemic.
But it seems that sex workers aren’t the only ones with cause for anxiety. A whole swathe of sex-related accounts, including those of certified sex educators and sexual wellness brands, are now being affected by the new rules.
