His allies then sparked smoke bombs to disrupt a debate about Albania’s 2024 government budget. On Monday, opposition politicians threw lit cigarettes and started another fire in a trash can, in support of Berisha. Those same politicians have now been threatened with legal action for their fire-starting. ⁠ ⁠ All this political pyromania stems from a long-standing battle between the ruling Socialist Party and its bitter rivals in the Democratic Party.
