I’ve seen shop owners get berated and butchered through daggered words of disgruntled souls these days because of it. There have been health scares, too many and too close to home. A few friends, one especially dear, who didn’t make it through. The smoke and mirrors of screened life, an extremely faulty lens for an accurate assessment of souls. The constancy of opinion streaming everywhere. Poachers of craft & connection, angled networking, an uptick of striving. Distant learning, sheltering in place, the complexities of life. Ever an abyss of what each of us juggle that never meets the eye yet human nature tends to swiftly size up what the eye (mis)perceives. Potent is an understatement for the times. Yet somewhere in this conglomeration of everything and so much I am finding rest in the laying down of loads. Most of it was never mine to carry anyway. No more sweeping under the rug, but opening my hands and letting it fly free into the wind. Thanking it for teaching me how to let go of unnecessary weight. I find respite in this, a welcome freedom. There is a joy there too, a holy yawp, a fire that does not burn, a kindling of beauty, wonderment, simplicity, strength, softness and love. Somewhere in all of this I left so many rucksacks behind. I sought shelter and gifted myself the room to recluse, to evolve, to change my mind, to change it again, to grow and outgrow. There is flux and misunderstanding that can transpire in such a process, within and around, and yet that in itself is another rucksack taken off. I’ve been able to clean the dust out of my eyes and ears ever since. And stretch limbs ever so slowly and breathe even slower. I can hear the resound of my beating heart again. Renewal and revitalization. Hibernation and rest. Lots of honeycomb for sweet dreams to come and awakening to follow. This is the solstice for laying down heavy weights, the season of good tidings finding their way into hearts, and of hearts finding their way too. ✨ . . . .
