But Dyson is hesitant even to say the word ‘future’ — preferring “the F word” — reluctant for her use of the term to be conflated with an Afrofuturist one. When she says that through her work she can “see a better future”, Dyson means a better present. For her, our current conception of time has collapsed. The past, present, and future are all now.
