Bones and spines, cords and tangles. I’ve felt bunched up these days, it’s been a year of bunches. Bales from here, there, over yonder, bales felt through the weaves that connect us. A squirrel nearby keeping company, both it and us nibbling at our meals. I read a story about thieves thieving only to protect their theft from other thieves. Odd jumbles and briars, life of late, like winding down a spindly creek that swept me clear off the rocks. I let the current take me where it wanted until I landed safely on a soft bank. This time I had a satchel in tow, perhaps a reason for my excessive fondness of them, and another book to read along the way. Sometimes books feel like road maps for spindles and creeks that creep and sweep, and stories are reminders that we’ll make it through and be the better for it too. For this I am ever grateful, that there is peace hidden underneath the cobbles and crags and bumpy terrain, a peace I’ll take without questioning. The silver linings, I’ll take those too. A grace we all need along the trail.

I usually bumble and bramble between a few journals at once, it’s just my way, much the same in how I rotate through a few novels at a time too. My next rite of beginnings will be in this particular @loombound journal with its wondrous woven design, a palpable reminder of how we weave our way through those windy roads and creeks alike, with lessons and knicks, glories and shortcomings, mud and petals and everything in between. It is still its own masterpiece, like us, none of us perfect, each finding our way, and each a miracle too, beautiful and extraordinary to behold, even and especially with our cobbles, crags and bumpy terrain. We will become the better for it, a never ending silver lining, one for the taking, one I am ever grateful for too.

A note: this is not a sponsored plug, but a sharing all my own in support of small shops. I grew up in a maker family, it’s a vulnerable livelihood, but you get a work of art and a lifelong relic of sweat, heart & soul in exchange. #supporthandmade #supportsmallshops #supportmakers
