We were mere steps from our campsite at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan, and after spending the day hiking the dunes and dunking into the clear, frigid, beautiful lake water, we watched the sunset on the beach and stacked smooth stones or made art with them in the sand. These were the first days of our nomadic life together, and we still couldn’t believe that we’d done it - that a year and a half of waiting and working and wondering had culminated in us really, truly living on the road.
