I guess I was a bit different, even at that age, and libraries always offered a really safe, quiet space away from those who might have been less-than-kind. It makes sense, when you think about it. In this one room I could find hundreds-of-thousands of mini-escapes. Prior to joining CIA, I was a middle school librarian, so I guess you could say it came full circle. Seeing that light in a kids face when they finally find a book that they like is really special. I get to experience that same type of fulfillment in a very different way here at CIA. The reason I love my job is that it is different every single day because of the diversity of the customers that we get. It might be someone from HR who needs to clarify a law, it could be an analyst who might need help identifying a uniform patch they saw in a video still, or it could be an officer who needs to see an image of the inside of a particular class of helicopter to be used in a medical evacuation.
