I’ve made over 25 expeditions there to study, photograph, and film the biodiversity for Nat Geo and others. This is an underappreciated part of the world that I’d like to share with all of you. The geography, for one, is stunningly varied, as seen in these images: Peak Trikora, a 15,584-foot (4,160 m) mountain in Papua (first image); the limestone islands of Misool, part of the Raja Ampat island chain; and the Sepik River Basin.
