One year ago today 🇵🇪❤️ ~ It was such a privilege to be able to visit this place with some of my favorite climbing partners and friends. We spent 5 weeks in the Ch'acco Huayllascca Valley above the town of Pitumarca, climbing and creating new routes on the high altitude limestone cliffs that line the valley. We climbed and developed on the land owned by the indigenous Quechua people, who grow potatoes and raise llamas and alpaca in the fields below the cliffs. Each day we climbed we paid a fee to the Quechuan landowners and asked permission to bolt each new route by presenting a photo of where the line would go. We also had a curfew of having to be out of the valley before night fell because pregnant alpaca and llamas can get spooked by cars at night and miscarry. It was a really great example of visiting a place where climbers and local people have developed a positive relationship. That is made only possible by local climbers @diana.alexia.gomez and @cocorsirvas who also own and operate @7aescueladescalada gym in Cusco (check it out for anyone dreaming of visiting Peru after covid 😊). Thanks Diana and Coco for helping make our trip so special 🙏🏻. This video gives a small taste of the magic of Pitumarca 💫✨ I definitely took traveling to faraway places for granted before all of this and watching this vid gave me all the feels 😊 // @thenorthface 🙏🏻 // 🎥 @louderthan11 @jonglassberg @honngy [Link in Profile for full vid]
