エミリー・ハリントンさんのインスタグラム写真 - (エミリー・ハリントンInstagram)「I wrote and rewrote a bunch of words over the past few weeks about racism and the deep pain and injustice the Black community faces and has faced in the United States since forever. None of it sounded smart or right or fair. And that’s because it’s not. There is no right thing to say. Nothing I say will make me feel like I am doing the right thing, because just posting on social media isn’t enough and this isn’t about me and it’s all been very wrong for a while. The purpose of this post isn’t to just say something to get it out of the way because it’s the thing to do right now and then move on. It is to sit with the discomfort of being a white person in a deeply racist country and reflect on the fact that my discomfort is nothing compared to what the Black community faces each day. It is to admit that my silence is a part of the problem and to pledge that my learning won’t stop after this post is lost in the feed and this news cycle is over. I’m speaking up to say that I’m still here and I’m listening and learning and donating my time and money towards anti-racism and I’m going to do better. Link in my profile to an article that helped me find some ways to help. There are many resources out there right now - books, organizations, podcasts, articles, etc. You just have to do your research (google!). If you’re a non-Black person in America I hope you’re doing what you can to support your Black community and educate yourself. If you’re a Black person I hope you’re taking care of yourself and finding support. To the Black people whose accounts I follow and have educated me and others in the midst of all this pain - thank you 🙏🏻. *Comments turned off because I do not need/deserve praise or thanks and any negativity or issues w this post can be directed into my dms if you feel I’ve missed the mark in some way. I’m going to take a break from social media/climbing related posts for a while to put some energy into learning and listening and doing better. ❤️」5月31日 22時45分 - emilyaharrington
