There is no television, no electricity, and probably because of this, the art of storytelling, dance, and culture is an important celebration of life for the Mbororo. Nomadic pastoralists, they travel with livestock from north to south during the rainy season, following the rains. They move in groups of relatives, including children and elders, and travel on foot, donkey, or camel, staying only a few days at each stop. I was in Chad on behalf of @rippleeffectimages, capturing the work of Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, a member of the Mbororo community who is working to harness the centuries of wisdom and weather-predicting techniques held by the community—in order to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
