2F、3F、4F、5Fと各フロアの南エレベーターホールに立つと鮮やかに目に飛び込んでくる、江戸小紋柄の朝顔、桔梗、菊、蝶などの文様をレイヤーで組み合わせた彫刻作品《Echos Infinity -Immortal Flowers-》。現代美術作家の大巻信嗣さんはGINZA SIXのために制作したこの作品を次のように語っています。
「派手な着物が禁じられた時代に発展した江戸小紋は微細な柄が規則正しく配され、華美を競うことではない職人の粋が、銀座の上品さやGINZA SIXが考えるラグジュアリーに通じるように思いました」(『GINZA SIX magazine 52 interviews for GINZA SIX』より抜粋 → https://ginza6.tokyo/news/8476 )
そこにあるのは、作品の一番奥の層に組み込んだ鏡に映る今の時間と江戸の時間が振幅し合う、時を超越したアートです。

In the 2F, 3F, 4F, 5F elevator halls on the south side of GINZA SIX you’ll find contemporary artist Shinji Ohmaki’s sculpture series “Echoes Infinity -Immortal Flowers-“. The commissioned pieces are composed of traditional Japanese motifs used in textiles during the Edo period, including morning glories, bellflowers, chrysanthemums, and butterflies. “At the time, commoners were prohibited from wearing gaudily colored kimonos. So instead, they developed kimonos adorned with intricate repeating patterns. I thought that the craftspeople’s refined restraint echoed Ginza’s elegance and the vision of luxury put forth by GINZA SIX.” (Read the full interview, in Japanese only, here: https://ginza6.tokyo/news/8476 ) The timeless pieces are a mirror into the present as well as the past.
