Happy New Year! Japan is now early morning of the new year.
In my first dream of the year, my lawyer was explaining to me the worker’s right to refuse assignments. It somewhat seemed to make sense in terms of forecasting the year ahead for me.
These days I am becoming increasingly forgetful and the speed of my decision making is slowing down; I feel some weirdness in myself, strange emotional persistence sometimes rendering me immobile. It’s quite something, as though I am watching, play-by-play, my brain’s deterioration by age.
It has also been emotionally tough facing my father’s progressing Alzheimer’s—I can’t help pondering about the fate of the genes I have inherited.
Reading everyone’s new year’s resolutions posted on Facebook and Twitter timelines I feel extremely envious. I have no plans or goals to carry me through the year ahead; I just pray to the gods that hopefully I will survive yet another year.

あけましておめでとうございます。日本は新年の早朝を迎えました。
初夢は、、、弁護士の先生に業務の拒否権の説明を受けているものでした。今年の自分を占う意味で、なるほど、な、夢でした。　最近は物忘れがキツくなり、決断するスピードが鈍く、変な部分、感情が固執して動けなくなったりしていて、脳の老化の実況中継を見てるようで、何ともかんとも、であります。父親のアルツハイマーとの付き合いもなかなかに来るものがあり、‬同じ遺伝子の己の行く末を思ってしまいます。
FBやTwitterのタイムラインの皆様の新年の抱負を読んでて、大変羨ましく、僕にはそんな１年通した計画などなく、今年も生き残れたら有り難いと、神様に手を合わせるばかりであります。
