What is art?
It signifies crafts, techniques, and methods of awakening powerful empathy in others by stabilizing the authentic human reality through various chosen mediums.
A stabilized medium could be a piece of music, a painting, a sculpture, moving image, dance, a novel, or a sport, among other things. Whatever the medium, it requires a certain amount of training—although there are also geniuses who can achieve accomplishments in specific genres without training—and there are various phases to the artistic expressions depending on the circumstances of those giving such expressions. And there is no doubt it is in the moment when such expressions merge with youthfulness that they dazzle us in earnest.
Art certainly can be about mastery and virtuosity, but there is nothing more beautiful than the moment in which youthfulness surpasses techniques and perfection. It is when I brush against such gushing brilliance of young people that I feel truly blessed to have the wonderful working environment of the galleries I run.
In 2020, we have no shortage of solo shows by such artists coming up at Kaikai Kiki Gallery @kaikaikikigallery and each of our Nakano Zingaro spaces.
In the first half of the year, Yasumasa Ida’s @井田幸昌 exhibition at Kaikai Kiki Gallery in February is bound to be outstanding even among other exceptional shows. By the time of the opening he will have turned 30, but at th moment he is still youthful 29.
