Asteya. Non-stealing. What does this mean to you and how do you apply this core yogic concept to your practice and your life?

If you run a business it could mean to refrain from engaging in unethical business practices, such as stealing, bribery, intimidation, bullying, deceit, cheating, copying, misrepresenting, misappropriation, and other similar morally questionable and harmful actions.

In your practice, it could mean not doing poses or practices that your body isn’t ready for even if your mind desires then. It could also mean not claiming the knowledge or teaching of another person or culture as your own. For Western yogis, it could mean consciously refraining from acts of cultural appropriation.

I’m not here to provide the definitive answer, but I am here the spark the processing of questioning. How else do you see Asteya and how else would you apply it to practice and life?
