Remembering #JimiHendrix who passed away 49 years ago, at the age of 27.
Though known for playing Fender Stratocasters, Hendrix played this Gibson Flying V extensively from 1967–1969. 🎸He probably used it on his 1967 BBC Radio 1 sessions and 1968’s Electric Ladyland, notably for his solo on “All Along the Watchtower.”
A famous #leftie, Hendrix modified the guitar's nut and strap buttons to better suit his left-handed playing. Hendrix also painted the instrument himself with nail polish to create its groovy psychedelic design. ✌️ The design was lovingly restored in the 1990s.
Only two weeks left to see this one-of-a-kind guitar in "Play It Loud: Instruments of Rock & Roll." Don't miss out!
