Patricia Altschul is the dowager countess of “Southern Charm,” the Bravo reality show about the lives of the rich and reckless in Charleston, South Carolina. @pataltschul emerged as a tart-tongued matriarch doing the work of a Greek chorus for a cast in which half the members can barely figure out how to get out of bed before noon (and once there, how to proceed without a beer). “It’s been like learning a new language,” Patricia said of her interactions with her younger cast members. While acquiring fans by swilling martinis, spouting witticisms and wearing caftans, she has also capitalized on her sudden fame by writing a memoir-slash-advice-guide and creating @patricias_couture, a company that prints images of pets onto things like caftans, pillow cases, pajamas and yoga mats. And Michael Kelcourse — her butler of 15 years and a scene stealer on the show — is never far from her side, planning her meals, driving her to McDonald’s, and even traveling with her.
